Dover Marina, Kent

Gouache on paper

Dover Marina, Kent

Gouache on paper

An image based on silhouette and reflection.

Cheesy grin

This is a digital sketch- it feels strange staring at a computer screen instead of looking down at a piece of paper and holding a pencil. At times it feels a bit restrictive but once you get into the swing of it opens up a whole new world and if you make a mistake it's easy to correct!

Another little digital test...

'Self-Portrait'

This was a quick digital test drawing.

Trying new things...

'James'

Here I have created a digital image of James- this technique is something I would be interested in experimenting with!

I always feel a bit overwhelmed whenver I visit Dungeness. It is so baron, and has very little going on there. Whilst theres houses you may not see anyone walking the tracks, no dogs or cats around. However every time I visit, this one little wooden house always has a flock of birds sitting on its roof. Seeing as it is timber, maybe they have nested in there?
Dungeness Power Station
Tin Caravan, Dungeness
This is a drawing of Prospect House, which was the late artist and filmaker, Derek Jarman's hideway in Dungeness, Kent. Dungeness is a baron desolute, headland on the South East's coast- This quaint little building really stands out in the area and was built using local materials. The house was built in tarred timber. In raised wooden text on the side of the cottage is the first stanza and the last five lines of the last stanza of John Donne's poem, The Sun Rising.

BUSY old fool, unruly Sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows, and through curtains, call on us ?
Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run ?
Saucy pedantic wretch, go chide
Late school-boys and sour prentices,
Go tell court-huntsmen that the king will ride,
Call country ants to harvest offices ;
Love, all alike, no season knows nor clime,
Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time.
In that the world's contracted thus ;
Thine age asks ease, and since thy duties be
To warm the world, that's done in warming us.
Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere ;
This bed thy center is, these walls thy sphere

Its about time I updated my blog!!! It has been far too long and things have been happening but there has been a sincere lack of computer interaction especially now that I have access to an Ipad (also know as the lazy mans computer).

I shall be updating this blog in the next couple of days with some work!!!

Here is a little digital drawing that I did on my new Graphics Tablet. It took a bit of getting used to but I would like to try doing more digital artwork. This is a self- portrait...
